When you buy Hanes clothing you are not just buying a t-whirt but also into the Hanes philosophy. Here is some information on Hanes;
HANES’ HISTORY
For over a century, Hanes has been clothing the USA and countries around the world. Hanes evolved from a basic line of underwear to the leader in men’s, women’s and children’s casual apparel.
In 1901, Pleasant Hanes formed P.H. Hanes Knitting Co. to produce underwear for men. He introduced two-piece underwear, a radical departure from the traditional one-piece union suit popular at that time. The same year his brother J. Wesley Hanes formed Shamrock Mills Co., later to become Hanes Hosiery.
In the 1940’s, both companies contributed to the WWII War effort, supplying underwear for servicemen and the military with nylon.
In 1965, the two Hanes companies merged to form Hanes Corporation; the fi rst time two companies with the same name have done so.
In 1979, the knit products and hosiery businesses were again separated when Hanes Corporation was acquired by what is now known as Sara Lee Corporation. The familiar red logo is associated with the Hanes knit products business.
In 2001, Hanes celebrated its “100 Years of Hanes” milestone.
